Hengki Koentjoro is a photographer that specializes in black and white photography. He explores complexity in minimalist ways while also exploring borderlines of shadow and light in his work. His work was fascinating in the way that his subjects were complex, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of distractions within his photographs. His work was also fascinating in the way that while his subjects were complex his use of light and shadow really made it straight forward and very intimate to look at. I couldn’t stop looking at his work and admiring how beautiful and crisp everything was. I loved his attention to detail and how the black and white brought out textures within his subjects and this is what I tried to capture in my photos. I had to really find light and texture in my photos so that when I began to play with them in Lightroom it would be easier to showcase those details. It was a good exercise in really trying to look at different subjects in new ways instead of just snapping at the first thing you see.
